EDITORIAL
Greetings and welcome to the July / August edition of the Sporting Motorist.
There has been a fair bit of club activity since the last edition of the magazine. First off there was the second round of the Boss of Baskerville race meeting held on Sunday June 19th (at Baskerville of course). The second ‘event’ was the presentation night held at the Carlyle Hotel on June 30th, to present trophies and awards for the 2004 club pointscore series, as well as other club awards to members for the 2004 season.
The Baskerville meeting was well supported with a very good number of entrants plus a great number of spectators on ‘the hill’. I haven’t seen the final financial figures for the meeting, however the preliminary ones were suggesting a profit of over $2000 for the day. Fortunately the weather was kind to us for this time of the year and I am sure this helped in making the meeting such a success. Results follow later in the magazine.  The presentation night at the Carlyle was also well attended and trophies for the various class placings for the 2004 club series were awarded to a broad cross section of members. Special thanks to Andrew Lamont for keeping a record of the results throughout the year and for ‘putting it all together’. The results and a few explanations are covered later in the newsletter. This night was also the time for presenting awards to club members for their efforts throughout the year, whether it was for results achieved on the track, or in recognition of their effort in supporting the club in 2004.
A significant part of the evening was the presentation of HSCC life membership badges to the clubs Life Members. It was great to see so many life members who had come along on the evening for the presentations
I guess that is about all for past events, so now on to upcoming events. Of course you would all be aware (by reading your events calendar) that on Sunday 7th August our CLUB DAY meeting at Baskerville will take place. Let’s hope once again for good weather so that we have a great roll up on the day to also make this day very successful. Hopefully I will see you all out there next Sunday. Cheers until next time.

BITS and PIECES

There are still a few trophies from our presentation night that need to be collected.
If the following lucky recipients give me (editor) a ring on 0417 140 931 possibly something can be arranged:-
Formula Vees – Noel Clark and Stephen Barrington
3J/Improved  – Andrew Webste
HQ Holdens – Kim Read and Damien Wickham
Targa/Sports GT – Kim Barwick and Ed Conacher
Under 2 litre – Ed Conacher
Sports Sedans – Stephen Bell
I will take all the trophies out to Baskerville on our club day (7th). If you are going out on the day and can pick it up, that would be great.

APOLOGY: For at least as long as I have been doing the newsletter we have not been recognising Roger Mahoney in our list of recipients on page 2, of a club service award for his efforts as a competitor, handicapper and office bearer of several positions.
Recently this error has come to light and our apologies to Roger for not including him in this list of Service Awards in previous newsletters.
